Because summer camp is only 1 week out of 52, we offer Camp Corner! Pine Lake values and activities for your family at home! Good ideas added weekly!
Typically this game is played with a lot of people, but we bet you and your family can get creative with the rules and the calls! Or make your own Coronavirus version with calls like, putting on a mask, going grocery shopping, or meeting on zoom. 😉
“The sculpture is already complete within the bar of soap, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.” – Michaelangelo Those weren’t his exact words, but if he didn’t have marble, who knows? With just a bar of soap, a plastic knife, and your imagination, you can make anything! And the shavings can be mixed with water to make liquid soap!
Don’t spoil your dinner on this sweet treat from nature! 😉 It’s honeysuckle season in the south, and the smell of it is scrumptious! BUT, did you know you can taste honeysuckle too? 1. Make sure it’s honeysuckle. 2. Gently remove the flower from the stem. 3. Slowly pull the green base of the flower away from the flower while keeping the center string attached to the base. 4. Watch for the bead of nectar and catch it on your tongue before it falls! 😋
No nunchucks or throwing stars in this game- just fast reflexes! Start in a circle, with your hands in the middle. When someone yells NINJA START! jump back into your favorite ninja pose. Take turns moving clockwise around the circle, “attacking,” trying to touch someone’s hand in one fluid motion. When your hand is tagged, it’s out. Last person with a hand still in wins!
Eggs in a Nest are a favorite for Pine Lake campers! Usually we make them over a fire, but in hard times, a stove will work too. 😉 1. Cut a circular hole in a slice of bread. 2. Butter both sides of the bread slice and the circle. 3. Place them carefully, separately in a hot frying pan. 4. Crack an egg in the hole and season to taste. 5. Cook until done on both sides. 6. Enjoy!
When we’re homesick for “normal,” we can always turn to God in prayer. In Matthew 6:5-14, Jesus teaches the disciples how to pray, and it still holds true today. Soak in these timeless words and remember God is near.
In times like these, Jesus, friends, and ice cream are essential! (okay, maybe ice cream’s not essential…) We recommend combining all three with a video call, just to remind someone that you enjoy spending time with them!
Gathering around a campfire is a great way to bond, and after a long week, it’s a great way to welcome the weekend! Your campers (or your inner camper) can have fun planning a creative outdoorsy meal, even if the fire is only virtual!
An oldie but a goodie! Get outside, find some nifty leaves, place them under your paper, and rub your crayon sideways on the paper. ADVANCED LEVEL: Overlap the leaves and colors to add interest. Poison Ivy Reminder: Leaves of three, leave ’em be

Did you know you can cook anything in tinfoil? Okay, maybe not soup… but hamburger ✔️, sausage ✔️, even tilapia ✔️! Pick a protein, add complimentary sliced veggies, season well, and cook until done! They’re best over a fire, but an oven will work too.
Hosanna! Christ is risen indeed! You can use items from around your house to put inside plastic eggs, and then retell the story. We found… bread, juice, money, thorns, a nail, a sponge, fabric, a stone, and… AN EMPTY EGG! What can you find?
God designed us to be in community. One creative way to build community: work on bracelets “together” with a friend over the phone or video call. You could even mail someone a bracelet you make for them. We all need each other now more than ever.
Whether you feel like you’re surviving or thriving, celebrate making it to the end of another week. Be creative with how you interpret super, and remember, our strength comes from the Lord! (Ephesians 6:10)
Easter is this Sunday! We’ll all celebrate a little differently this year, as we share God’s love with our community by staying home, but we can still remember Christ’s sacrifice and victory as families!
Add a little make-believe to your day with some face painting! You can find recipes online for homemade face paint if you don’t have any on hand. With a little color and a little imagination, you can become anything!
Jump into spring with a flower hunt, a bug hunt, or a leaf hunt! How many different kinds can you find? How many can you name? Look high and low, and leave no stone unturned! God’s nature is waiting for you to discover it!
Easter is on the way! Here’s a treat that’s fun to make with a team! Using your hands, mix… 3 cups powdered sugar 1 1/2 cup peanut butter 1/4 cup melted butter Shape into eggs and freeze for 1 hour. Then, dip in melting chocolate!
When we memorize scripture, we commit it to our brains AND our hearts. This verse sure sounds a lot like a popular camp song…
Get outside and play some volleyball! Don’t have a volleyball, net, or outside space? Put up a rope or string and use something lightweight like a stuffed animal as the ball. (Make sure all the breakables are put away!) Fun is never far away!
Who has the most silly skills in your family? Just type “Family Minute to Win It Games” in your favorite search bar to find all kinds of quick competitions you can do with things in your own home!
This is a great tool for praying for others! Thumb: Those closest to you (family, friends) Pointer: Those that point you in the right direction (doctors, pastors, teachers) Tallest: Those who lead (government) Ring: Those who are weak, sick, or in trouble Pinky: Ourselves and our own needs Let’s lift the people around us up to God!
Squeegee (noun): A small bristly being, approximately 1 – 2 inches long, very good at wrapping around small tree branches, okay at camoflauge. Some say it looks like a pipe cleaner. Perhaps your backyard should have some squeegees in it!
Calling all budding journalists! Your work is needed for the next edition of the Pine Lake Times! (This will be the first non-summer edition of this news source.) We want to know what’s going on at your house! Share about your latest adventure, your favorite joke, or a picture you drew! Email content to suzanne@pinelakecamp.com or send direct message.
Food is more fun on a stick! For Hiker’s kebabs you’ll need… Half length skewers Cheese cubes Meat cubes Bite size veggies Bite size fruit Ziplocks (for transport) Everyone fills a few skewers and you’re ready for a hike!
God speaks through His Word! SOAP is one way to dig into a passage and learn more: Scripture- What’s the passage? Observe- What do you notice? Apply- (How) does it apply to you? Pray- Talk to God about it. Not sure where to start? Try Psalm 119:105-112
Your people need you! God created us to be in community with one another, so check in on a friend, or have a virtual ice cream date with someone you haven’t talked to in a while!
Embrace the power of silliness and institute a family Crazy Supper! You can wear your least logical clothes and even eat dessert first! No one knows what to expect at Crazy Supper!
Get down on the ground and explore your yard from the perspective of an ant! Wow, is that grass tall! And those beetles are huge!
Singing is more fun with motions! Make up your own motions to your favorite camp song, and share them with us. Who knows? Maybe your motions will be used this summer!
Guard the eggs!! Eagle’s Nest is a camp classic you can play at home! Set up two nests with “eggs” (frisbees, balls, pine cones…) on opposite sides of a divide. Get all the other team’s eggs in your nest, while guarding your own. If tagged, return to your side.
If you can go outside, take some time to pray in nature. You can pray a bible verse like Psalm 46, or a song like Sanctuary or In the Secret. You can even write out your prayer like a letter. God hears our prayers, however we pray!
Take a minute to write a letter to a loved one! A letter from a friend can be a ray of sunshine in someone’s life. Bonus points if you know how to address and stamp your envelope without googling it. :)
Get in the Word! I Corinthians 12 We remember we have value as children of God, and we are called to nurture one another and share the good times and the bad with each other.
We usually cut this recipe in half.
Math is more fun when you eat it! Practice fractions with this delicious recipe (cookie bars not pictured).
ABC Nature Walk! As you walk around your yard or neighborhood, try to find a piece of nature for each letter of the alphabet. We already found an ANT for “A”!
